People pass by you everyday,
There are the fortunate and the ones who aren't.
There are the ones who eat like kings,
And the ones who don't eat.
There are the ones with their cars,
And the ones who watch out for cars.
There are the ones who make money,
And the ones who are given money.
There are the ones who die and are remembered,
And the ones who die and fade into the dark.
There are the ones who live in greed,
And the ones who give.
There are the ones who run by,
And the ones who help people run.
There are the ones who stare and whisper,
And the ones who look with compassion.
There are the ones who are self-centered,
And the ones who wish to help the whole world.
Only two types of people exist in the world,
The ones who help others and the ones who help themselves, it's your choice.

The American Dream: Curley's Wife's Character Analysis.
What is the American dream? Everybody has an American dream, and that dream is affected by who that person is and what that person wants to do with their life. In the novella Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, every character has a different dream then an other character. One characters dream sticks out more then the others. The American dream of the unnamed wife of Curley is to become independent and to be noticed.
Cutley's wifes dream becomes more noticible throughout the novella. At the beginning of the story she is first introduced as being a tramp and to be "[kept] away from." Actually she is trying to be noticed through her flirtatious poses. This gives off the presence of her being a whore. George says "[Curley's wife could] clear out for twenty bucks." By judging Curley's wife by how she acts blocks out her real self and hides her real dream. Her real dream becomes more visiable only if someone could look past her outer appearance.
Curley's wifes dream of being noticed and to feel like a wanted person had been put to a hault. Curley's wife says "that a guy told [her] he could put [her] in pictures." This made her dream become more visiable because she wants to be noticed and fame is one of the best ways for a person to do this. Except for her family and her meeting Curley caused her dream to decline. One thing that put her dream to a hault was as she thinks "[her] old lady stole [the letter]." The letter she was waiting for to get to be put into pictures. If the letter was stolen that could have been the start of the decline of her dream. When Curleys
Curley's wife does try to put herself out fufill her American dream. When Curley's wife enters "the doorway [and] cuts off the sunshine" she is only trying to be noticed. She wants to just talk to the guys. She goes to the guys to be noticed but they just turn her away. When around Lennie she tries to be friendly but Lennie keeps "[interuping about] not getting to tend the rabbits." She does try hard to be friendly to Lennie but he doesn't notice that she's trying to do this. Trying to fufill her dream she tries to be friendly to everyone.
Curley's wife had the dream to become noticed, but this is in a way impossible for her to do, due to get family and her realationship with Curley. She was dragged away from her dream and can never fufill it since she was killed by Lennie in the barn. She had a dream like everybody has about being noticed. She failed her dream when she had married Curley, even though to her "he ain't a nice fella" and caused her own demise and the complete crushing of her American dream.

The College of Life

Students moving around the campus talking amongst their peers can be heard all of the time. At some points the colleges buildings reach up into the sky. Out by the theater the occasional play can be heard. When walking down by the colleges pool a good whiff of chlorine might get smelled. During the holidays all activities stop and this vibrant campus dies down and becomes quite. Snow falls on top of the buildings of the college, and all wildlife seems to go away and not be heard nor seen.

9/11: A Day of Terror
Right after the terrorist attacks of 9/11 America was ready to retaliate against the surreptitious terrorists. "Our military is powerful and [was] prepared" to attack the terrorists who had attacked America. America was ready to take the threat of the terrorists down by stepping up and helping America's military.

I Am............
I am shy and talkative
I wonder what new things I can try
I hear laughter
I see my family
I want to succeed in life
I am shy and talkative
I pretend to be famous
I feel happy about everything
I touch everything that is amazing
I worry about the safety of my friends
I cry when something tragic happens
I am shy and talkative
I understand how to succeed
I say you can only accomplish what you have started
I dream about upcoming things in my life
I try to make good grades
I hope everybody would be safe
I am shy and talkative
I wonder what new things I can try
I hear laughter
I see my family
I want to succeed in life

Curiosity Almost Killed Alice
The book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, is about a girl who gets herself into trouble, in her own dream. Alice first gets into trouble with her curiosity when she wants to know why the White Rabbit is in such a big hurry. Alice stays in trouble after she eats and drinks mysterious things that helps her grow and shrink. She eventually gets to the house of the March Hare, where there is a tea party. Alice’s curiosity then leads her to the castle of The Queen of Hearts. At the castle, Alice plays a game of croquet with the Queen and other people who live in the wonderland. Alice was in danger of having her head cut off by the Queen. Alice could have perished in her dream many of ways due to her curiosity. Curiosity can be bad but can also be good for people.
Sometimes curiosity can be a bad thing. Curiosity could get a person in trouble with things like drugs and breaking the law. Drugs are bad because they can be bad to a persons body. Breaking the law is bad because it could get a person in trouble with the police. There are good things curiosity can do for people also though.
Curiosity can be good for trying new things. Some new things could be new foods and activities. I have learned that I like certain types of food due to curiosity. I also know that I like to write stories and books. Without curiosity I would have never known certain things that I like to do.
Alice could have been killed in wonderland due to her curiosity about where the White Rabbit was off to in such a hurry to get to. There are both good and bad things to being curious about depending on what the thing is about.

My "Raven"
Have you ever lost a loved one? The poem “The Raven” is about a man trying to get over the lose of his loved one, Lenore. Then when the raven comes the man gets angry at it because it sits upon the bust of Pallas, smiling and only saying the nevermore. This makes him angry because it reminds him of Lenore. He soon finds out that when the raven says nevermore it means that Lenore will never return to the house. The raven is also trying to tell the man that he should still be sad but not let it consume his life. At any moment I could lose a loved one, but I should not let the sorrow consume me.
A lose of a loved one is a tragic thing to happen to a family. Sadness is probably the first emotion that people would have to a lose of a loved one. I have lost two of my cousins to car crash related accidents. I was sad about what had happened, but I had my own “raven”. Not an actual raven but mine was that I knew that they went to a better place. I did cry for a few days but I felt better after I had realized that they had went to a better place. I had found a way to overcome my sorrow thanks to my “raven”.
Anybody could lose a loved one at any time. This is sad but nobody should let the sorrow from it fully consume them. Everybody should find there own “raven” to help them conquer there own sorrow.

Sudan Decades of War
Recently I read an article “The New State of South Sudan” in The New York Times which was about South Sudan gaining it’s independence. The old united country of Sudan had been in a civil war over the countries oil reserves. North and South Sudan practice two different religions. The war has gone on for two long decades due to unresolved peace agreements. Now that South Sudan has won their independence they need to think about how to become a successfully developed country.
Sudan was an oil rich country. After South Sudan broke away, they have seventy percent of the oil reserves. North Sudan has an advanced oil pipeline that South Sudan could use transport their oil to the market. The two countries should get together and figure out a way to profit from their resources. South Sudan could use the money to help with the development of their new country. Both of the countries could create more jobs to help with their people’s incomes. Most of the people in these countries make less than a dollar a day. I find this dispute about their oil to be mere child’s play and immature.
Even though South Sudan has become their own country, they continue to be at war with North Sudan. There has already been two million deaths in the war. North and South Sudan practice mainly two different religions. The south is a Christian territory while the north is a Arab Muslim territory. The two countries should not fight even if they have different religions. They should use the good morals, from both of their religions, to not fight with each other.
After reading this article I realized how fortunate I am to live in America. If a group of people from North and South Sudan would take a stand they could end the war and settle their differences. The adults from these two countries need to realize that they are the main influences in their children’s lives. If the war continues the children from these two countries will be at war for decades to come. They would also ensure a better life for them and their children if they stopped the war.
